Youtube And The Next Generation Of Video

online presenter

Our modern society has been gradually gaining technological evolution since the idea behind an information super highway was created. As a result of this, the web has become somewhat of a source for ‘accurate’ information that many have now become fully dependant on as a prioritised source.

The internet has improved dramatically over the last decade and is beginning to gather more audience attention than the once popular programming broadcasts from television networks The internet has attracted more audience recognition through the use of a larger variety of entertaining mediums concerning computer graphics and video.

Video usage is one of the latest phenomenon’s, with hosting slowly becoming an essential feature for most websites in recent times. This has increased with the rise in popularity of such video hosts as YouTube.

Many find web video production to be a type of visual aid, which proves beneficial more so for the current generations of pre-teens and young adults who, as a result of certain technological distractions, have less of an appreciation for the written word and a low maintenance of a decent attention span for long periods of time.

Companies are using video presenter in different ways depending on the target market and product or service being advertised/offered. Those offering advice on things such an editing techniques in programmes like Final Cut Pro often use videos to directly show users which buttons to press/tools to use, and how certain methods should be carried out. Audience members who may learn in this way find this beneficial as it allows them to use practical information rather than just written paragraphs.

Video hosting websites like YouTube serve as a good communication method, and can also give rise to fame for those who get noticed by well-known production companies; for example, online presenter Brooke Brodack posted comedic music videos as a hobby, only to be seen by Carson Daly of MTV. She now generates cash for her unique online video stylings.

With the advances, videos have now begun to become interactive, allowing viewers to select links and find yet more information than just what the video itself aims to supply.

Banners on web pages frequently use this method for advertising, allowing users to scroll over the area to reveal a larger section containing either an interactive feature or video corresponding to the small amount of information given on the banner initially.

This rise in video hosting has taken attention away from television, which was once the only technological deviation to supply videos of a high quality to a variety of audiences on a large scale.

Many terrestrial channels have already begun seeking opportunities to move their programming online, and resources such as BBC iPlayer and 4oD have now increased in content capacity.

Inevitably as technology increases, so too will the amount of new features on the World Wide Web, including the advance of video formulation, offering possibilities for more creative and inventive idea yet to be approved.

The undercover act of accumulating fridge magnets

July 1st, 2009

There is something that pushes people to put full color fridge magnets everywhere on their fridges?

This newly arisen social development is reflected in the needs of two willing parties – businesses and householders. One wants to increase the things they do…the other, to have contacts handy when they look for things.

So, fridge magnets have become a most popular collectable

It all began with simple, one colour magnets and has grown to the colourful and shapely fridge magnet extravaganza that adorns the refredgerators of the world.

Promotional fridge magnets are a fantastic means to reach prospects and customers! Whatever you’re selling; a fridge magnet with your branding, your company’s logo, motto and sales message on a home fridge or office filing cabinet is a marvellous place to be.

As personalized ‘tokens of goodwill’ they go about their work day and night; that’s why companies use them. They capture the favour of the buying public.

Naomi Klien spoke in her book “No Logo”, of the increasing commercialization of “space”. What was before without value now has a business or economic value, with a price to be paid. Now, if it’s a “space” and people see it, then it has a commercial value and businessmen may be prepared to pay a price to exploit that space.

Where our fridges were once pristine, uncluttered, spaces unfettered by commercial subject matter, they are today, the heart of family life. After all, there is nothing more fundamental to the functioning of Western families than the fridge.

In a time challenged world the need to have information handy – at the tip of one’s fingers, is appreciated. So now, the fridge carrys the magnet for the plumber, the local politician, the electrician, the local butcher, the car mechanic and many more. And underneath all these magnets are the bills to pay, the school notices, notes to loved ones and what ever else fills the life of the family.

So now the fridge has also become the family’s filing system as well.

And so the fridge magnet love affair has been set in a marriage that shows no sign of disappearing. Consequently, for those amongst us, who hoard promotional fridge magnets, you can be assured of a ample and free flowing supply of magnets forever.

Business Loans: Incorporate Them in your Business Strategy

Angelo Drew asked:

Business is nothing but a rational use of money with an objective to earn more out of it. Therefore, financial planning assumes a significant proportion. You need good financial planning right from the coming into existence of your business entity. Very often, business plans are there to implement but financial constraints hold you back. In such situations, you can rely on business loans.

Financial planning is a continuous activity. You need to assess your business and formulate financial strategies on a regular basis. Budgetary constraints sometimes push you towards business loans. If you use business finance as a tool to help you grow, then you are in game for a lot of positive results. But, do not over rely on business loans. Your liabilities should never exceed your assets. A sound business should always have the capability to meet its liabilities.

Exploring further on Business Loans, it can be said that they are meant to supplement your reserves. Suppose that you have a plan to expand and enter into the overseas market. For this, you need more raw material, more human resource, latest equipment and technology, etc., but your surplus and reserves, as they stand, are inadequate to actualise your plans. In such a situation, business loans will prove a great help.

Business loans can be secured or unsecured. To make a good choice, you should have all the knowledge about these types of loans. Their advantages and disadvantages should be seen in the context of your requirements, preferences, financial status and other circumstances. You cannot decide for a type of loan in isolation. If your preference is that you do not want to give security to the lender, then you should apply for unsecured business loans. Again, if the circumstances demand a huge loan then you may have to rely on secured business loans. Anyhow, take a well-informed decision and carry on with your business plans with conviction.

Picking A Strategy For Your Small Business

business strategy
Art Espey asked:

So, now you have achieved your goal. You own your own business. You’ve worked the long hours and done all the right things and you are ready to go to the next level. Then it hits you:

? What should I do?

? How should I do it?

These are strategy questions. Business strategy has been reserved for large companies with big planning and development budgets. That was then, this is now. Strategy is just as important for a small business as it is for a big business, if not more so. They can afford numerous mistakes, you can afford very few.

What Should I Do?

In most businesses you want to grow. Grow revenue, grow profits, grow market share, etc… In some businesses, growth can kill you. This may be due to market conditions, economic changes, or an industry shift.

In some businesses you want to shrink. This may be because your profit is higher at less revenue. You only have so many trusted leaders that can supervise and manage. Once you go beyond the capacity of your leaders to pay attention to detail – profits slip. This is a proven business “catch-22″. It seems that the bigger you are the better leaders you can attract. However if you don’t attract the right leaders, you won’t get bigger.

This depends on your business, your vision, and your risk tolerance. One business may choose a strategy to grow at all costs, while another may be quite content only accepting projects that pay very high profit margins. Both are right for their respective situation.

I have actually seen both at different stages in the same company. At one point we decided to grow so that we could get cash and build a solid infrastructure. Once that infrastructure was in place, we focused on certain types of business to help us grow. This reduced our top line revenues but significantly increased our bottom line profits. It wasn’t easy, but it was very, very effective.

How Should I Do It?

Once you pick the course that you will guide your business on, you must figure out how to make it happen. How do you make your small business strategy a reality?

Before we answer that, let’s ask a few more questions. Can you make the strategy a reality on your own or do you need help? Will you need help in sales and marketing or in operations?

The answer to these questions will determine whether or not you need a partner. There are many types of partner relationships including licensing, affiliations, strategic alliances, and joint ventures. Make sure that you select the right one for what you are trying to achieve.

As you compete in your market space you will find that there are a number of choices that you have to make. One is price. Not cost, but price. Another is quality. Yet another is service.

Sure, both you and your competitors say you are the best at all of these, but which one is really the best – based on the customers’ opinions. Being the low price guy when price doesn’t matter is not just a bad strategy – it is just plain dumb. Offering outstanding quality for a significantly higher price when the customer will only pay for ok quality is just as dumb.

The key is to pick a strategy that works for your business goals. Picking the wrong strategy can be fatal; not picking a strategy will be fatal.

A Website Survey – No Beating Around the Bush

June 29th, 2009
Comments Off

Webmasters have access to free tools such as Google’s Analytics that will provide them with detailed information on the number of website visitors, what pages have been accessed and the length of time visitors have spent accessing the website.

However, despite the vast amount of detailed information that can be collected what will always be missing is information that will tell the webmaster exactly what the visitor was thinking. Did they like or dislike the site? Was the layout easy to understand or just plain confusing? Did they find it easy to navigate and maybe the most important thing, did they find the information they wanted?

A website may be generating sales but why are some people that visit the website not buying anything? Was it because they didn’t like what was being offered or they couldn’t find what they wanted?

Using online surveys webmasters have a simple and accurate method of answering these types of questions. Direct feedback from the website visitors cuts to the chase, no need to guess, just ask the visitors themselves how they found the site and if they found what they were looking for.

With an online survey webmasters can find out:-

  • How often do people visit the website?
  • How did they reach the website?
  • Are they interested in the website for business or pleasure reasons?
  • Was the information they were looking for found on the website?
  • How easy did they find navigating the website?
  • Would they recommend the website?

A good website survey will be concise and will collate information that once analyzed will provide valuable information to help improve the website.

Another alternative to a traditional survey is to embed one or two survey questions within the website after specific procedures. For example at the end of the registration process the visitor can be asked if they found the procedure quick and easy; after ordering an item they could be asked if they found the ordering procedure and payment methods to their liking. To ensure that the questions don’t become repetitive to regular visitors the website can be programmed so that the questions are only asked once per registered user.

Website surveys take the mystery out of working out what visitors think of a website and using Online Survey Software they are quick and easy to design and once implemented will really become the webmaster’s assistant.

Maintaining A Relationship with a Live Audience

June 28th, 2009

Many promoters starting out have to work hard and on a shoestring to get an audience of a few hundred people to fill a venue. Flyers, word-of-mouth and social networks are some of the methods promoters can use to try and attract people to venues or club nights. Building a loyal following from grassroots is no easy task. It can take a great deal of effort to attract enough people to fill even the smallest of venues and that effort should not be wasted and the actual event used to establish a relationship with the audience that will continue beyond the end of the evening.

For a small outlay online surveys can be set up to provide the promoter with feedback and the opportunity to maintain an on going relationship with their audience. Using online Survey Software a promoter can now quickly and easily create an online survey.

With an online survey a promoter can find out exactly:-

  • who attended;
  • what persuaded them;
  • what they thought of the event;
  • would they expect to attend again;
  • would they recommend future events to their friends.

A way to ensure a good response is to have a number of business sized cards that are marked clearly with words like “Feedback”, “Your opinion counts”, “Tell us what you thought”. Each card would have a web address pointing either directly to the survey or to a website where a link to the survey can be placed. Cards can be issued at the entrance along with the tickets, or handed out among the audience and if they are made the size of business cards they will be small enough to be stick in a pocket, purse or wallet. It may not even be necessary but a small incentive wouldn’t harm the response rate perhaps the chance to win a free guest pass for a future event, a signed CD or T shirt.

Using the results from online surveys the promoter is able to:

  • Obtain a profile of the audience
  • Gauge the overall success of the event;
  • Measure the effectiveness of different promotion;
  • Receive feedback on the venue and facilities;
  • Receive feedback on the act;
  • Promote on a one on one basis;
  • Build a targeted database for future events;
  • Build a loyal audience;
  • Link to merchandise and other promotions.

Considering the effort that it takes to promote an event and the little extra effort required in using online surveys to encourage further contact and all the immediate and long term benefits that will bring – it really couldn’t be any easier.

The following example shows the feedback that could be used for a breaking band. Not only does the process collate good feedback it also continues to promote the band, their CDs, downloads and gives the opportunity to encourage further contact.

The Unselfish Guide to Self Promotion Super Book Review

June 27th, 2009

Jorge Olson’s, “The Unselfish Guide to Self Promotion,” is a rare find among the multitude of self-help success books. This is not an “all about me” book like most others you will find on the market. Olson’s book takes you to a new adventure of self awareness in family, in life and yes, in business. Instead of just doing shameless self promotion in the traditional way, Olson will show you through life lessons that have catapult him to great success, happiness and self realization in business and in family.

I must admit that I approached reading “The Unselfish Guide to Self Promotion” with some apprehension. But, the title intrigued me enough to see if Olson could pull off the melding of these two utterly opposing thought processes … “unselfish” and “self promotion.Jorge Olson grew up in Mexico across the border from San Diego, California. In his first few pages you will find wonderful wisdom from life stories while growing up in the Tijuana border. Here, Olson set the tone for the remainder of the book by delivering his own “theory of relativity.” Yes, everything is relative based on one’s perspective, position in life, wants and needs. “Unselfish” means taking the time to understand that what’s relative to you can be quite different to each individual.

With the true meaning of “unselfish self promotion” being established in Part One, Olson devotes Part Two to delivering solid guidance and lessons to apply unselfish self promotion in every segment of your life – business, personal and community service. Again, stories and examples from Olson’s life prove to the reader that his approach is not only doable, it is truly a pathway to achieving one’s full potential – and doing so with integrity and caring for those around you.

Olson wraps up the book in Part Three with a comprehensive “toolkit” of advanced strategies to promote, market and network your way to selling yourself wherever you choose take your career and life. These are solid, proven strategies that target establishing a presence on the Internet right through to the in’s and out’s of public relations. Readers will find Olson’s insights into social networking on the Internet nothing short of cutting edge as it’s the new “place to be” for establishing connections and discovering unlimited and unique opportunities.

Take some time away from today’s stressful headlines on the economy and global challenges and spend some unselfish time on yourself. “The Unselfish Guide to Self Promotion” will not only give you a better handle on what’s “relative” to you, it will set your thinking and behavior in such a way that you will achieve all you want by helping others achieve that they want.

Jorge S. Olson is an author, speaker, trainer and entrepreneur. He made it to CEO at the age of 28 and has worked with small companies and fortune 500 enterprises helping them with sales, marketing and strategy.
